The Impaktech Stark VARG EX Alpha 80hp Supermoto Build – First Look & Conversion Breakdown
Back in December, when Stark Future officially announced the groundbreaking Stark VARG EX, we knew we had to get our hands on one. We immediately called up our good friends at Kaplan Cycles and placed an order for the top-tier 80hp Alpha model in the sleek Forest Gray colorway.
In this article, we’re breaking down our first impressions of the bike straight out of the crate—and giving you an inside look at what it takes to transform the Stark VARG EX into a full-blown supermoto weapon.
Choosing the Right Spec
When it came time to choose our spec, the decision was easy—we went with the Alpha model, featuring the full 80hp motor. With a retail price of $13,990, it's the top-tier option and, based on current market trends, holds its value much better than the lower horsepower versions.
We decided to skip the factory titanium upgrades and rotor guards. Since our goal from day one was to convert this bike into a dedicated supermoto build, those off-road-focused extras didn’t align with our vision.
Why an Electric Bike?
At Impaktech, we’ve been leading the motorcycle crash cage protection industry for years—and everyone on our team is a true motorcycle enthusiast. We get it—electric vehicles often carry a certain stigma. But let’s be clear: this isn’t a Tesla. The Stark VARG EX is an electric motorcycle that outperforms conventional gas-powered dirt bikes in almost every category.
We’re beyond excited to explore what this platform is capable of. Expect a lot more content on our Instagram account @impaktech, so make sure to follow us for updates, behind-the-scenes footage, and maybe even some limited-edition parts for the Stark VARG EX. You never know what we’ll drop next.
Street Legal from the Factory – Game Changer
When Stark Future first released the original Stark VARG MX, we weren’t all that interested—it wasn’t street legal, which meant it didn’t fit our goals. But everything changed when they announced the Stark VARG EX. This version is 100% street legal and ready to hit the road right out of the crate.
Based in sunny Riverside, CA, we wasted no time getting our bike plated and registered through the DMV. The process was quick, and within days we had our license plate in hand. As for insurance, we called up Geico and were shocked—in a good way. Full coverage came out to just $14/month. Of course, that rate will vary based on your personal info and location, but that was our experience.
Impressive Street-Legal Components
One of the first things that stood out to us was the quality of the street-legal components included with the Stark VARG EX. From the mirrors and turn signals to the lighting and license plate bracket, every part feels well thought out and solid. As a company that's been manufacturing high-end CNC parts for over 15 years, we know quality when we see it—and the engineering here is impressive.
Stark Future clearly put serious effort into making sure the road-ready components matched the performance and aesthetics of the bike. Our first impressions were nothing but positive.
Surprisingly Good Headlight from the Factory
One of my biggest concerns going into this build was the headlight. A lot of motorcycle manufacturers cut corners here—slapping on a cheap, dim headlight and expecting customers to upgrade to an aftermarket LED. I honestly expected the same from the Stark VARG EX.
But to my surprise, the stock headlight is excellent. It’s a 4000-lumen LED straight from the factory, and it’s bright. Like, seriously bright. No need for an upgrade here.
For Stark Future’s first street-legal bike, this was a huge win. It shows they’re not just checking boxes—they’re paying attention to the real needs of riders. I couldn’t be happier with it.
First Ride Impressions – San Bernardino Mountains
I took the Stark VARG EX out for its first ride in stock form through the San Bernardino Mountains—and holy smokes, this thing blew me away. It performed even better than I expected.
At first, the lack of a clutch felt strange. No gears, no shifting—just pure, instant power. But after a few minutes, I got completely used to it. In fact, not having to worry about a clutch or gears actually made the ride smoother and way more enjoyable. It was easy, intuitive, and just plain fun.
The 80hp Alpha motor is no joke. Whether you’re wheeling, drifting, or just cruising, the power delivery is buttery smooth and incredibly responsive. Honestly, I wish I had ordered this bike sooner.
We’re beyond excited to put this machine in the hands of our sponsored stunt riders and let them push it to its limits. That’s when things are really going to get interesting.
Supermoto Wheel Setup – Warp 9 Custom Build
For our supermoto conversion, we went with a brand we trust—Warp 9 Racing. We've used their wheels before and have always been impressed with the quality and finish.
For this build, we spec’d out a custom powder coat in Illusion Violote with gloss black spokes for a clean yet aggressive look. The rear wheel is a 17x4.25, and the front is a 17x3.50. While a 17x5.00 rear might sound tempting, Warp 9 strongly advised against it due to potential rubbing issues and fitment headaches—advice we were happy to follow.
We wrapped the wheels in a set of Michelin Pilot Power 2CTs, one of our favorite supermoto tires for both grip and longevity on the street. Paired with Warp 9’s 49-tooth sprocket and titanium front rotor hardware, this setup gives us the perfect mix of performance, durability, and clean aesthetics.
Even better—our custom wheels were delivered in just about two weeks from the time of order. Not bad for a made-to-order setup.
Custom Graphics – Rival Ink with a Twist
For the graphics on our Stark VARG EX, we teamed up with Rival Ink—a company we’ve worked with in the past and trust to deliver premium quality. We chose their Game Over Grey template as our base and added a few personal touches to make the bike truly ours.
We opted for a holographic chrome print base, giving the graphics a unique pop that shifts with the light, and finished it off with a standard gloss laminate for added durability and shine. To protect the swingarms while keeping things clean, we applied clear swingarm decals for a subtle, factory-style finish.
The final look is sleek, aggressive, and definitely turns heads—just the way we like it.
Final Thoughts – The Future is Electric
Our Stark VARG EX Alpha 80hp Supermoto build has completely exceeded expectations. From the factory-fresh street-legal components to the raw electric power, this bike proves that the future of motorcycling doesn’t have to sacrifice performance or style. The ride experience is smooth, responsive, and surprisingly addicting—especially with no clutch or gears to worry about.
With a clean graphics kit from Rival Ink, a custom Warp 9 wheel setup wrapped in Michelin Pilot Power 2CTs, and a handful of well-thought-out upgrades, this VARG is now a one-of-a-kind supermoto ready to tear up the streets of Riverside.
We’re just getting started with content on this build, so be sure to follow us on Instagram @impaktech for behind-the-scenes looks, ride footage, and maybe even some exclusive Stark VARG parts in the future. Stay tuned—this is only the beginning.
